January 2009 Memories B

Josh came from Massachusetts for a visit. We all marveled at the beautiful music he produced on the mandolin within minutes of taking it into his hands!

Bethany and Josh traveled around West Tennessee to see friends and new sites. We so enjoyed the time he was here! We were sad to say goodbye as they drove back to Pennsylvania............................

And then the ice and snow arrived with a vengeance!

January 2009 Memories A

What goes up must come down. Ben helped Willis take down the lights and the wreaths. Still no snow. Ben returned to GCC for an intersession class. There was plenty of snow to welcome him!

Bethany's Senior Recital will be in February at Grove City College. Many Dyersburg friends were thrilled that she would perform the recital here! An evening of beautiful music.

It's here: My 50th birthday! The day started with friends at a CBS leaders retreat in Franklin and ended at home with my sweet husband and daughters. I am blessed beyond words.

December 2008 Memories B

When Bethany and Ben arrived home from college, we could decorate the Christmas tree. Hannah always puts the angel on top!

We always look forward to Willis's cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning. Through the years he has experimented with different recipes, with varying degrees of success. He has now perfected the formula!

Our annual picture in front of the Christmas tree...................we miss you Nathan!!!!!!!

50th Year, 4th Quarter

Alas, the birthday has arrived and the new decade entered. This is the 4th and last post in the series (see May 10, July 10, and October 10), but perhaps a new series will commence at some point. It is not a bad thing to be a half-century old; the grace and goodness of God are even more real--more time in life provides more time to see Him and to know Him better. "Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! O for grace to trust Him more!"

Print books: Basic Christianity by John Stott; 1&2 Thessalonians, Hebrews, Galatians in more than 10 different translations and paraphrases
Audio books: None......................I now spend all my drive time listening to sermons on 1&2 Thessalonians & Hebrews! (Thank you to John Piper and Desiring God ministries!)
Favorite movie: Once; and for the first time, the classics White Christmas, Holiday Inn
